Right of Way Groundman - Reidsville

JOB SUMMARY:  Entry level position in Right of Way department where employees will learn safety procedures, company policies, and tree trimming techniques by performing all necessary work from the ground to assist other crew members.     

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:  Reports to:  Right of Way Supervisor or Crew Leader as directed on a daily basis.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, DEGREES, CERTIFICATES, AND/OR LICENSES:

Valid Georgia Driver’s License

High School Diploma or Equivalent

CDL (Preferred)

EXPERIENCE:  Minimum 1-year previous work experience required.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Obtain CDL within 6 months of employment.
  2. Become certified in bucket truck rescue.
  3. Become certified in D.O.T. flagging.
  4. Become CPR and First Aid certified.
  5. Become familiar with all aspects of safety rules and regulations and learn to recognize all hazards that exist on a jobsite in the form of falls, electric shock, falling objects, and traffic; and become familiar with the use of personal protective and safety equipment.
  6. Become informed of CEMC’s policies and procedures.
  7. Become familiar with knot tying.
  8. Become familiar with equipment set-up. 
  9. Become familiar with truck inspections.
  10. Become familiar with tree trimming.
  11. Become familiar with the proper use of hand lines.
  12. Learn to operate power saw on ground.
  13. Learn to safely remove standing trees from Right of Way while standing on the ground.
  14. Learn to operate Right of Way equipment.
  15. Learn to Maintain, Service, and make minor repairs to tools and equipment used.
  16. Place limbs and other trimmings in chipper.
  17. Performs herbicide spraying as directed.
  18. Support company objectives.
  19. Participate in Job Training and Safety Meetings as required.
  20. Participate in annual meetings as required.
  21. Perform other duties as required.
