Phone Scams

Heads Up! Protect Yourself from Canoochee EMC Scams

Local businesses beware! Scammers are posing as Canoochee EMC representatives, threatening to disconnect power unless immediate payment is made. Don't fall victim! This is a SCAM.

Here's how to stay safe:

  • Never provide personal information or make payments: Canoochee EMC employees will never request payments outside the office, over the phone, or through unsolicited calls.
  • Verify before paying: If someone claims to be from Canoochee EMC and demands payment, hang up and contact Canoochee directly at (800) 342-0134. Legitimate representatives can help verify their identity.
  • Be cautious with phone calls: Never share your credit card information over the phone unless you initiate the call to Canoochee's official number. Even if the caller seems legitimate, don't share your credit card details.
  • Look for official identification: Canoochee EMC employees will arrive in marked vehicles with company logos and wear identifiable clothing. If unsure, always ask for ID.

Remember:

  • Canoochee EMC has an automated payment system, so employees never need your credit card number.
  • If you suspect a scam, report it immediately to your local law enforcement and then contact Canoochee EMC.

Stay informed and stay safe!
